I Think It's Destroyed Blogging!

I'm a bad monkey and can't believe it's been 5 days since I last blogged.

How long has it been for you?

All I know, is that I go down my sidebar and don't find too many updates.

I'm blaming Facebook and Twitter.

140 characters to fill and boom, done. People can comment and even have conversations that seem like instant messaging to me (although I don't do that - I don't like to feel tied to the computer)

I remember sitting at the computer for hours reading blogs and the sites I visited.

Now, I'm lucky if it takes me a half hour to do the rounds, flash through Twitter and look over Facebook.

I'm wondering if blogging has now jumped the shark.

Maybe it's a time thing. In August it will be 4 years of blogging.

I know others have been at it longer and will probably continue on much longer than I could see maintaining a blog.

I should figure out Google Reader and use it already. I know there are some bloggers that have tons of blogs they follow.

Course, it could just be my mood. It's creeping up on bad.

And the TV keeps calling to me. After this week though I think most of my shows go on hiatus. I've been looking for just the right reading lamp so hopefully I'll find a great spot to finally sit and fill up on reading.

I mostly blog at Book Thingo now. Anything personal usually goes on my Facebook status. I still haven't sorted out how I'm going to blog about the kids, so for the time being the solution is not to blog (although I can't help it sometimes).

I prefer blogging to Twitter. There's a point at which Twitter gets very confusing, plus it's a huge time suck that lasts the entire day.

And while I'm here, I recommended Black Ice to someone, who loved it and now wants to know if there are any other heroes out there similar to Bastien. I was wondering if you have recs I can pass on? :-)

I haven't been blogging mucn lately because I've felt really "glass half empty" aobut a lot of what I've read. Even the stuff I liked, the things that stand out are the quibbles rather than the things I really enjoyed about the book. It's not the "if you can't say anything nice" syndrome, it's me trying to figure out how to better balance what I want to say about the books I'm reading.

Twitter doesn't really thrill me. Mostly because 140 characters aren't enough. And although I have a Facebook account, I haven't really done anything with it. Eh.

Will post more.

Kat O+ - I'll come find you at Blog Thingo then! Twitter can be a pain - I'm subscribed to a few that must tweet every other second. I got rid of a few (bad Cindy) but I'll see if I continue with that one.

AS lover!!! I'm so excited. If they loved Bastien then she/he has a world of great heroes in AS.

See if they like Moonrise by AS. They can read the rest of the 'Ice' series but I found two of the heroes so cold I wasn't sure they had hearts so that's definitely something to watch for. I loved it - to a point, then I was all SHOW THE LOVE!! ;)

If they are open to historicals then I have a recommend there also. (not trying to be mysterious, I just never remember then name of the book. Just know the heroes name is Simon and it rocked!)

Steer them clear of Nightfall till they decide what part of AS they like.

jmc - Yay!! I get what you saying about reading. I don't really look at my posts as reviews for the most part or I would never get a word down.

I was writing a 'review' of a book I really enjoyed and realized I had pointed out all the crap that I didn't like about the book. I had to sit back and wonder if I really had liked the book. I did but I think I worry someone will read the book and say 'Cindy, that book sucked!' so I tend to overcompensate.

I have to say though, if something is a quibble for you, it might be many other people's 'oh hell no'.

And hey, I enjoy your other posts too!

It's at bookthingo.com.au and there are 3 of us blogging over there. Where are you on Twitter? I try not to tweet too much about non-book stuff although I can't always shut myself up.

I'll pass on your recs. I knew you'd be excited to hear about a new AS convert. *g* My second favourite Ice book is Fire and Ice.

Um, Cindy? How am I gonna find this mysterious historical with a hero named Simon!?!?! LOL

Kat O+ I'm dogzzz under Twitter. Can't remember if CindyS was taken or what. I'm very quiet - I only tweet once a day and in short bursts.

*laughing* IF your reader wanted a historical title I was going to look it up but hey, managed to find the time right now (took a sleeping pill and waiting for it to kick in).

Lord Of Danger - seriously my fav.

Why is it hard for me to remember?
Prince of Swords and Prince of Magic are also titles to AS books and for some reason I get them all messed up in my head.

Dunno where everyone's gone, TBH. Twitter doesn't appeal to me for the same reasons jmc mentioned, plus the fact that I couldn't keep up with both my blog and a twitter account. LOL :) I'm just too lazy. I do use a reader though, & it helps me keep up with people although I comment less frequently.

I've been a little burned out on blogging (five years now?) so I have been twittering more ... but I can easily see going back to blogging when I get my mojo back. I wonder if these things go in cycles.

I'm trying to develop my own mojo on my blog -- sometimes it seems so scattered, I'm not surprised at the lack of readers! Now, Facebook, I'm all over -- LOVE that place. I'm afraid to even try Twitter because apparently I have an addictive personality. I'm easily addicted, not vice versa... ;-)

Bookwormom - Twitter & Facebook have stolen my mojo because of their ease of status updates and short burst. I'll think, oh yeah, I need to blog only I'll remember I put something up on Facebook already and I'm afraid of repeating myself. I think I need to get over it and just blog again.

Meljean - oh, yeah. Maybe it's the new shiny thing for now. And when blogging feels like work I need to back away too.

Amy - I actually like blogs that take on all kinds of subjects. That's why I named this blog Nocturnal Wonderings - I'm a romance reader but I knew I wasn't going to be able to keep my brain from jumping tracks every other day so no expectations ;)

FB, I don't really like. Sure, it's nice to keep track of your friends, but when you have someone updating tons of times a day + all the applications, meh. As for Twitter, never tried and not interested.

I like blogging :) I don't know how long I'll be at it, but I really like it. This is what I don't like about technology... They develop something new, then everyone move on :(

Nath - no kidding - I have a niece as my friend and she must be on FB for hours.

Or they develop something new and I'm left in the dust. I decided anything to do with cell phones (iPhone etc) was beyond anything I wanted to be involved in.

What I don't understand is people wanting to watch movies on their iPod. The screen is puny - all these years I've been trying to get a bigger and bigger screen!
