Another Two MEMEs for YOUYOUs!!

Megan tagged me to pick 5 blogs that make me think.

Thinking hurts so I try to avoid such mental excess.

That said:

Suisan can have me taking notes and doing math. Uncool. Still I go there and read through her posts on politics and after a year and a half I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. Then the posts on horses can have me googling for hours. So I figure Suisan actually could write a page from the phone book on her blog and have me leaning forward in my chair wondering if it was a new wacky code that I have no hope of solving.

Occasional Book Reviews by JMC has a little bit of everything for someone like me. Food, politics and social responsibility - then she talks about books!

Bookwormom has such a wonderfully eclectic blog that you never know what you'll get until you zap in. Poetry one day, a simple video post relevant to current events and snippets on the family and how life changes from day to day.

What Were You Expecting by Holly is a blog that celebrates everything life has to offer. And when Holly wants to talk about something like child rearing or social responsibility she does it with straight talk and most of the time I'm sitting there thinking 'exactly'.

Rosario's Reading Journal has probably been mentioned many times by other bloggers but her reviews are so detailed and precise that you know exactly what it was she liked and didn't like about a book. I only wish I could be so concise in the way I write!

Okay, that's five but really, you all make me think. Yep, there are even times when I look at your blog and think 'how did she get that 'thingie' on her blog?' and more often than not, I have no clue!

And I have noticed that my blog has not come up once as thoughtful.

You're welcome.

The Little-Known Favorites Meme

Rules: List and describe three of your favorite books that other people might not be familiar with. Then tag five people. See, easy!

Now I think I have a post from way back where I listed 20 different books by 20 different authors that I really liked. I believe I will need to reference that list.

Renegade Love by Katherine Sutcliffe
. I don't see her mentioned very often but she was the author who first sated my need for dark tormented heroes and the women who love them. This was my very first keeper and even with my shoddy memory I can remember all the great scenes from this book and it's easily closing in on 20 years. This is an American historical that introduced me to 'road' romances. Seeing as how I was a newbie I didn't know which way was up and certainly didn't know if the hero and heroine would ever find their HEA.

Fairest of Them All by Teresa Medeiros - you know how I like dark romances? Well the first part of this story is simply about two people falling in love until the deceit is uncovered and then all hell breaks loose. Don't think of this as one of those Big Misunderstanding stories because that's not the case. Something as simple as beauty tears the H/H apart. Wonderful twist on the Beauty and the Beast theme.

A Pocketful of Paradise by Kathleen Kane - historical western with a soul collector as a hero. There were scenes in this book that made me catch my breath. In all honesty, it was a toss up between this one and Still Close to Heaven and I'm still not sure I made the right decision. I have to re-read these two to find out which one has the gun fight. Both of these books had me tearing up and I've already mentioned how that's tough to do.

FAIREST OF THEM ALL is easily, easily my favorite Teresa Medeiros, which is saying something because I have quite a few keepers. I love that book.

Renegade Love is one of my faves too. And for the times it came out in - a damn fine cover too! The male model is completely dressed.

Tara Marie said...

ummm, I've read all three and FOTA and RL are both on my keeper shelf :D

Aww, thanks for naming me, I'm very flattered. And you called me concise! I always fear I'm much too longwinded *g*

The books you list look interesting, especially the last one. What exactly is a soul collector? Is this paranormal? I'm trying to think of a more mundane explanation, but can't think of anything!

Oy Cindy! Those books sound great!!! :D I'll have to look out for them :P I have to admit that i've read mostly "new" romances... and never went back to the older ones...

Kristie - dressed male model.. those were the days LOL :)

Meljean - I just want to sit and re-read every keeper I have right now and this would be at the top of my list!

Kristie - I love the cover of RL - I think on top of the story, the cover just added another dimension.

Tara Marie - 2 outta 3's not bad ;) I think I need to go back through your blog and make notes on books I should buy!

Rosario - I LOVE your reviews!! I think you touch on every thing about a story and 9 times out of 10 I can figure out if what bothered you will bother me also. You have put many books on my TBR pile and saved me money as well!

Oh, and yes, I'll suggest that PFOM has a paranormal element but you will have to read the book to find out ;) She was another of the 'first' to write books that had a different theme. Now I want to go out and see if I can track a few of her books down and send them to ya. I'm in Toronto 3rd weekend in June and apparently there are UBS galore so I may just have to look out for these.

Nath - Let me know if you get around to these. I have Through a Crimson Veil on deck next - I just have to know!! Oh, and there really are lots of gems from the 'good ol days!' Now I may have to make a list ;)

I should try Fairest of Them All--I read the first half of another of hers (I can't remember the title at all) and couldn't make it through. But I remember the writing wasn't bad, just the annoying heroine. I do like Beauty & the Beast stories. :)

A Pocketful of Paradise sounds fascinating -- a soul collector? I'm going to have to see if a copy is available at PBS.

Thanks for listing my blog -- mostly I write it because the exercise makes *me* think :) I've slacked off on book-related things though lately, and I need to get back to it. Less political stuff. Less links and social commentary.

Jennie - let me know if you decide to read it. The beginning was just 'okay' but the second half is drama city and I loved every second! And it's not really a beauty and the beast story ;)

JMC - don't change a thing! If you read any Kane do tell - would be interested to see if others like her as well!

Sweetie, that was a very neat thing you wrote about my blog. I didn't realize that I was making you take notes. Pul-eese. But I'm flattered nonetheless.

I was also taged by Megan to come up with books--I haven't done it yet. Too busy thinking, I guess?

Anyway, thanks for the compliment. *blushing ever so prettily*

Wow, I've haven't read any of these. If you love them then I better put them on my wish list. My library has FOTA and APOP but I'll to visit the UBS the RL.

Thanks for the mention, Cindy! I thought about you today while zooming along the interstate. The car in front of me had personalized license plates that said B & C- I automatically thought of you & Bob, even though you're far away in frosty Canada.

CindyS said...

Suisan - you have taught me much and that's not easy to do ;)

Renee - I can't wait to hear how you like them. Do you have em? Are you reading them? Are you done yet? Now? ;)

Bookwormom - the good news is that it wasn't too frosty up here this weekend and now I think we'll be into the mid-20s from here on out *fingers crossed*

le gasp! I have not A Pocketful of Paradise by Kathleen Kane...

must find!

Rene I had two copies of RL. I will look and see if I still have both. I think it was apart of my issue with... WHICH cover to keep!

ReneeW said...

Sybil: Oh, if you have two and can part with one, I'd love to have it. You may owe me one already :)
